Entry Requirements for all course

At least 3 months voluntary or paid experience working with young people aged 11-19
-
You must have a paid or voluntary position secured for the duration of your course, a minimum of one hour a week

You must have a line manager/supervisor who is a qualified Youth Worker (Level 3 JNC and above). Your line manager/ supervisor is an essential part of your course and someone who will support you with the practical elements of your qualification. Your line manager/ supervisor must be in agreement to supporting you throughout this course and will need to be available to you regularly. More information will be sent to your line manager/supervisor once you have been accepted onto the course/

Be able to attend both online and face to face sessions and access teaching material using our online platform
Courses
Level 2 Award in Youth Work Principles is a course for learners aged 14+ who are new to working with young people, part time youth workers or learners who work with young people in different settings, ie school, sports etc.... LINK TO A NEW PAGE?
Level 3 Certificate (JNC recognised) in Youth Work Practice for learners aged 16+ already working with young people in a voluntary or paid placement who want to develop their skills and practice, specifically with leading and supervising young people.
Level 3 Diploma (JNC recognised) in Youth Work Practice is for learners aged 16+ who have a voluntary or paid placement and wish to develop their knowledge and skills further - LINK to PAGE

What are the entry requirements?

Whilst there are no academic requirements for the course, all learners are expected to have a basic level of written and verbal English to meet assessment criteria

How will the course be delivered?
We deliver hybrid learning, both online through Zoom and face to face at one of our AIMCommunity centres. The majority of the learning will be delivered online on a Wednesday evening from 7.30-9.30pm. To provide flexibility......
How long will the course take to complete?
Level 2 Award in Youth Work Principles - 6-8 months
Level 3 Certificate in Youth Work Practice - 18 months
Level 3 Diploma in Youth Work Practice - 18 months
Do I need to already have a paid job with young people?
You don't need to be in paid employment, but you must already have either a paid or voluntary placement where you are regularly (at least one hour a week) engaging with young people.
